I am a huge proponent of self awareness and mindfulness. I feel like without these, we are letting someone else make our decisions for us. Whether that mean well meaning family, a spouse, or even the media, when we aren’t aware of ourselves, we aren’t fully in control of ourselves.
I have been on the journey to self awareness for a while and found that most of the problems in my business and my personal life boiled down to two simple truths.
I was not confident in my business and life and I was not enthusiastic about my business and life. So I decided to challenge myself around these. I decided to put a challenge to myself for two weeks.
These are the results and how it worked.
Who Could Benefit From Evaluating Their Confidence and Enthusiasm
- People feeling disconnected from a part of their life or business
- People who have the chops, but not the guts
- People who don’t feel excited anymore
- People who don’t think they have the confidence and enthusiasm they want
- People who want more confidence, enthusiasm or both in their lives
Why Confidence and Enthusiasm Over Everything Else
Let’s be honest. Of all the things that I could have focused on, why did I chose confidence and enthusiasm? I chose these because they are within my control, as in I can grow and nurture them, they impact my business mindset hugely, and of course, confidence is sexy. I’m sure you’ve heard it before. When we look at someone and they are carrying themselves confidently, strolling down the sidewalk, there is a part of us that acknowledges that in them. We see it. We feel something that we associate with confidence, positively or negatively.
Enthusiasm comes from a place of joy and excitement. How can you be unmotivated when you’re excited? How can you make excuses for not doing something or just being lazy when you are truly excited about what you are doing? Work doesn’t seem like work when you’re excited.
How The Challenge Works
The challenge is 14 days start to finish. Each day, there is a task and a journal prompt associated with the task that makes you think about either your confidence levels, enthusiasm levels, or both.
Some samples from the tasks and prompts.
Task: Choose mantra for the duration of the challenge.
Journal: What is my mantra for the duration of this exercise and how does it apply to building enthusiasm and confidence?
Task: Write down all of the habits that you want to have.
Journal: Why have you chosen these habits? How do they enhance your confidence and enthusiasm?
Task: Brainstorm how you can implement ways of boosting confidence and enthusiasm in business daily.
Journal: Are you setting realistic goals? When we want to make changes, sometimes we try to make them too fast and wind up not making any changes. Are you setting yourself up for success?
Each day, you do the task and write a little or a lot (your choice) on the journal prompt. Being able to go back and review my answers has made me feel more confident in myself and in my position in my business. I am excited to work on it daily. I feel more comfortable in my own business skin than I have in a long time, if ever.
Taking A Crack At It
While I know that this is an ongoing process for me, I am planning to add this challenge to my client’s portion of their branding. I found out a lot about me and my brand through this. I found out what I really value and how I can carry those values into the day to day with enthusiasm and confidence.
And I wish the same for you.
Interested at taking your own crack at this challenge (without signing on with me)? I’d love to be able to share this. Let me know in the comments if the confidence and enthusiasm challenge is something you’d be into!
