My Job Title In My Business

You were warned. I’m keeping you posted on what is going on not just behind the scenes, but right out front of my business as I go through this rebrand. Don’t know what the hell I’m talking about? That’s cool. You can find out here or just read this and you’ll get in the loop pretty quickly.

Also, The Rebrand Chronicles might seem like it’s a bit dramatic (and it is), I’m really into it.

Making Choices

Making choices in my business is hard for me. Sometimes I feel really flaky, which shakes my confidence which leads to nowhere fast. I’m sure you get what I mean. So, I’m making some choices in my business starting with a challenge (more later) and of course what my actual function is in my business. This means a new job title.

Boss Lady / Brand Designer

A Break Down

Let’s start with actual word choice. Boss Lady was chosen for two reasons. First, I am a proud boss, I have worked hard and this is my business. Second, I am proud of being a woman who is a boss and don’t give a shit if the corporate world wouldn’t take me seriously as a Boss Lady. Brand Designer was also chosen for two reasons. First, no one seems to know what a graphic designer really does. Yeah. That’s a real thing. Second, I don’t do billboards, I design brands from the ground up for people who do amazing things. These brands are built to keep these people doing amazing things doing the amazing thing they do for a long time. That is a specialty all in itself.

The buck stops with me. And I like that.

Now let’s talk order. One might think that I would want to show myself off as a brand designer first because that is what people pay me to do and in someone else’s business, this would be very true. But knowing that I am a Boss Lady and Brand Designer means that clients, audience, whomever, are aware that the buck stops with me. And I like that.

Possible Controversy

I understand that boss [female word] or [female word] boss are currently under fire. And that’s fine if that is what you believe. Your opinion is your right and will be respected here. My stance is pretty simple. I am not just a boss (runs a business) lady, I am a boss (read badass) lady that has started a business, is a wife, works a full time job, and maintains relationships outside of the business world and my marriage. I am proud to be a woman that has kicked the door in on what is expected of me I respect that that is not everyone’s cup of tea, but you won’t see me apologize for it. I would love to know where you stand on the matter. Comment below!

The Challenge

I don’t have a name for it right now. It’s all about shifting my mindset towards ongoing confidence and enthusiasm in my business. That’s creating content, interacting, and doing the work instead of watching TV with hubs. Am I saying that the two are mutually exclusive? No. What I am saying is that I need to be able to confidently and enthusiastically make choices for my business, something I am not solid in right now. If you’re interested in this being something you can do, I want to know in the comments. It might take a little wiggling about, but I want to provide it if it’s something you may find value from.

The only way for me to know that though? You have to let me know. Comment!
